ART THERAPIST
Katherine Fallows BSW, BFA, MA Art Psychotherapy, ATh

My name is Katherine Fallows. I am an Art Psychotherapist & founder of Sydney Art Therapy.
You can call me ‘Art Katie’.
The young people I work with came up with this name, & I love it.
I am known as ‘Art Katie’ to many children & young persons across Sydney.
ABOUT ME
In 2016 I founded Sydney Art Therapy in Sydney for children & young people experiencing challenges with mental health & disabilities. I provide individual face to face Art Therapy in my art therapy studio in Bellevue Hill, Sydney. However I offer the unique mobile art therapy service to provide accessible art therapy for Australia’s most vulnerable children & young persons who are unable to leave their residence.
I receives referrals directly from; young people, parents, NDIS, Family & Children’s Services, NSW health – adolescence service, CAMHS, DCJ & Head Space Bondi Junction.
I am fully registered as a NDIS provider to provide art therapy for either NDIA or plan managed young persons.
I have outstanding interpersonal skills & creative techniques in engaging with the most resistant young person. I hold over 15 years of experience working therapeutically with children & young persons with the most complex mental health & disabilities. I have worked in Sydney & London, in various settings such as; primary & secondary schools, government organisations, hospitals & NGO’s. In 2018 I implemented the art therapy program at Centre 360 Paddington- Children, Young persons & Family therapeutic centre. I spent over 2 years providing art therapy to disadvantaged children & families across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
Witnessing the COLOSSAL transformational effect of art therapy on the lives of young persons in the United Kingdom & Australia, has driven me to devote my entirety & expand Sydney Art Therapy from part time to a full time practice.
I have earned a reputation of having the gift of engaging & maintaining long term commitment to art therapy with the most challenging & complex children & young persons. This is evidenced as I use art therapy to walk the same child through childhood, into adolescence & then into early adulthood.
Known for my professional, gentle & encouraging approach, I utilises my innate ability to hear & hold difficult, sensitive & painful emotions, to help young people work through the feelings of sadness, loss, anxiety, depression, & trauma.
‘Its team work, together we turn tears into triumph’.
Parents & children experience huge relief when they discover Sydney Art Therapy because I understand what your child/young person needs. I provide a professional clinical framework with consistency, reliability, predictability, safety & a creative space for children & young persons to communicate anything they choose.
